Baptism
If you are reading this page, it is likely because you are seeking to have your new child baptised. Congratulations!
Baptism is the first of the three Sacraments of Initiation. It is the ‘basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213).
As you prepare to present your child for Baptism, the Christian Community in Beaumont prepares to welcome your family with great joy!
Some useful information: You will need a white shawl or robe that is put on your child after Baptism. You will need a Baptism candle – this should be a candle that is solely for the newly Baptised. You must have at least one Godparent who is a confirmed Catholic and is at least 16 years of age. Additional information is available from the Parish Office or from a member of the Parish Baptism team who will contact you in the weeks before Baptism.
Baptism is a Sacrament by which the newly baptised becomes a member of the community; it is a community celebration and is open to all members of the community to attend, for this reason we do not typically conduct ‘private baptisms’.
If you are not a resident of the Parish of the Nativity of Our Lord then you are required to have a letter from your home parish stating that you are free to have your baptism outside of your home parish community.
