CORONAVIRUS MEASURES

In accordance with the measures promulgated by the public health authorities limiting attendance at public indoor gatherings,
Holy Mass will not be celebrated publicly in this church until further notice. Prayer meetings and other gatherings are also suspended. The faithful are dispensed from their obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.

The church will be open for private prayer on weekdays from
9am to 7pm and for more limited hours at the weekend.

Holy Mass will be celebrated in the parish every day at 10am without a congregation. It will be broadcast by means of the parish telephone system. To join the Mass please dial (01) 8477740 and select option 6.

Fr. Thadeus and I will offer Masses for the intentions entrusted to us each week. Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals may be celebrated though in each case, we request that only immediate family members attend and that they are seated at a distance of one metre from each other.

In these extraordinary circumstances, we are committed to prayer as one community – physically separated but united in spirit. You may wish to pray this prayer for spiritual communion from St. Alphonsus Ligouri until it is possible to receive the Eucharist again:

My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

It is a great sadness to have to publish this notice but we remain united in the hope that Christ is by our side in every adversity. We unite this sacrifice with the Sacrifice of the Mass itself and pray for each other.

I pray God’s blessing on all our parishioners.

Fr. Robert Smyth.
